When is a cafe better than a Storybook?

It truly was a delight to have lunch at a charming little cafe in Glen Rose Texas, called the Storiebook Cafe. It is housed in an old gas station and converted garage.

The cafe is a mixture of eclectic tables, chairs and knickknacks, but the real treasures are the bookshelves that line the walls. Every kind and style of book you can imagine, and the owner said she would sell any of them!

There were side rooms with hundreds of teapots, tea cups and porcelain trinkets on display.

It was just after Thanksgiving and they had decorated with a “Book Tree,” just adorable!

The decor alone would have been enough, but the food was also absolutely fabulous!  We had sandwiches and soup, served on quaint Corelle dishes like my mother-in-law used to have. Delish!

Before we were finished eating, our hostess tempted us with White Chocolate Chip Coconut Creme Pie.

And of course, we had some!  But only one piece!

We give the Storiebook Cafe a 5-star thumbs up!
