Well, all you HGTV lovers, feast your eyes on where we spent Black Friday – at the “Fixer Uppers” newly opened Magnolia Market in downtown Waco, Texas.
If you follow the show, you know the stars – Chip and Joanna Gaines – decided a while back to purchase a mostly abandoned block downtown, which had silos and some outbuildings.
They have transformed the block at Webster and 6th into a trendy shop where you can purchase some of the items she uses to decorate her ‘fixed up’ homes, and plenty of Magnolia Market Swag (hats, t-shirts, cups, books, etc, etc, etc). There is a newly opened Baking Company with some delicious looking cupcakes, cinnamon rolls (yum!), and other sweet things.
The outdoors is a large space for families to ‘play’ – with a bin of footballs, soccer balls, and corn hole games that anyone can set up and play. A large covered picnic area and a variety of food trucks surround the outdoor area and people are invited to just come and ‘hang out.’
We shopped, bought, and gawked for a while, even though it was a rainy day. It didn’t deter the crowds, but we were prepared for it. And we sugared up from the Silo Baking Company, so we managed through!
Worth the visit, if you are a fan and in the Waco area. But don’t be surprised if you arrive and realize the shopping area isn’t that large. I’m sure there are lots more plans in the future for this place.
