August Journal – Week 2

After a great week in Jackson Hole Wyoming, we moved on Sunday the 14th, to a small out-of-the-way RV Resort near Ririe Idaho.  Heise Hot Springs turned out to be WAY off the beaten path, down a few sketchy roads that a 40 Ft motorhome with toad probably shouldn’t be going. We made it anyway, and arrived to see that we would not be ‘on the Snake River’ as advertised.  There are some RV spots above the river on a bit of a bluff, but the Hot Springs Pool is the only thing really close to the river

Our spot was a 1/4 mile away from the Store and Pizza Parlor, and up against a bluff that boasts a Zipline ride. Thus, often times throughout Sunday evening, we could hear the whirring of the line and the squeals of the riders as they came by above us.

The RV Park was more that 50% empty when we arrived, but we were informed by some other locals that we there for the weekend, that the Park had been completely full during the weekend.  We were happy for the solitude of the mostly empty side of our parking spot, with grass and a large fire pit ring. Not sure we will be using that, but the space is big – and was a bit tricky to get into. We had to unhook the Pilot and make a tight swing and a couple of back/forth moves to straighten it out, but we got it done in record time!

The use of the Park’s wifi is non-existent, based on the fact that our spot is no where near the office/store. We are relying on our Verizon coverage to get work done today. We’ll see!

We are enjoying the spot and the solitude of the Park, so we have decided to stay until the end of the month. We anticipate the Park filling with ‘weekenders,’ but we are planning to do some day trips to other parts of the area, so I don’t think we will be bothered much by them.

Weather is amazingly temperate, with cool mornings and not too hot afternoons.  Lots of trees shade our area, and it has been wonderful to sit outside for lunch or evening relaxation.  We have been able to get quite a bit of work done, and if I didn’t keep thinking of reasons to go out and wander around, I’d probably be all caught up!
